Model Flat

A model flat furnished by the Ruhr Museum and Margarethe Krupp's charitable foundation can be visited within a guided tour at the Margarethenhöhe. This model flat is located in a two-family house that was built in 1911 in the second building period. It is a museal installation presenting the high standards of home furnishing on which Georg Metzendorf had considerable influence.

The flats at the Margarethenhöhe are based on a variable type of ground-plans that can be adapted to the necessities of the respective room. Every flat has a combined heating and cooking system, a scullery with a bath tub, washbasin and bath boiler as well as a separate WC. The model flat presents well-coordinated furnishing and equipment details on the basis of some original Metzendorf-furniture and replicas accurate in every detail.
